Kinvara Community Radio will hold a public meeting in the Community Centre in Kinvara on Monday 18th January next at 8pm. Those with an interest in community development, news, music or the technical side to broadcasting is invited to attend. The meeting will be addressed by Ms Mary Ruddy a founding member of Connemara Community Radio, one of Ireland’s longest running community radio stations. Mary will share her experiences of setting up and managing community radio in rural Ireland and the challenges and rewards that accompany such a venture.
Kinvara Community Council are fully supportive of the idea with its Chairperson John Mulleady saying, ‘We were very excited when Gerry Wallace proposed the setting up of a community radio station at a Council meeting late last year. From that meeting a small group of interested locals got together in an effort to make Kinvara Community Radio a reality. Kinvara is home to such a broad diversity of people from both artistic and professional backgrounds. Combine that with the amazing community spirit and the radio station is bound to be very successful. This is a great development for Kinvara and we are fortunate to have people living in the community willing to provide such a facility’ For further information contact: Sinéad Morgan 087 8132764
